Speciation and genome evolution

I am a doctor in biology specialized in data engineering and data science in bioinformatics. I studied biology in the University of Barcelona (diploma thesis 2011, with practical period in the fish physiology department of University of Crete). After my MSc in Aquaculture by the University of Barcelona (2012) I introduced myself to programing for image analysis in the University of Bergen, Norway, as research engineer for three years. Then I did my PhD supervised by Dr. Karine Rousseau and Dr. Sylvie Dufour (Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, 2018). Afterwards, I moved to Israel for postdoc in the group of Dr. Avner Cnaani, where I develop the bioinformatics area of his laboratory (since 2019).

My research is focused on the transcriptomic analysis for differential SNPs and genes. I study the gene expression and its regulation by single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as well as speciation phenomena. To do so, I developed pipelines for unbiased SNP calling in Snakemake.

Me in the field

I am highly responsive to the communal work, I acquire skills quickly and I communicate complex ideas in a very clear manner. I am detail-oriented, good in synthesis and understanding abstract concepts, specially mathematics. In a group I like all the members, including students, to be involved in decision making processes very democratically. I work well with self-assessment, self-directed education and project-based development.
